Elijah Gordon

Elijah Gordon, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and faithful servant of Jehovah, passed away peacefully on June 5, 2026, at the age of 84. Born on February 21, 1942, in Venice, Illinois, Elijah spent most of his life in Omaha, Nebraska, where he became known for his warm personality, unwavering faith, strong work ethic, and deep devotion to his family.

Elijah was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Dorothy Gordon, who passed away in 2023. He was also preceded in death by his mother, Fannie Greer; his brothers, Willie and Emmett; and his sisters, Dorothy and Gloria. While he experienced many losses throughout his life, he remained steadfast in his faith and continued to be a source of strength and encouragement to those around him.

Throughout his career, Elijah worked as a food sales representatve for North Side Produce/Hudson Food Company a profession that suited his friendly nature and love of connecting with people. He later served through his work with Eastern Nebraska Office On Aging, where he took pride in helping others and making a positive difference in his community. His kindness, dependability, and genuine concern for people left a lasting impression on everyone he met.

Elijah found joy in life’s simple pleasures. He loved grocery shopping, cooking meals for family and friends, spending quiet days fishing, and taking drives around town. He was especially known for his sense of humor and his ability to make people laugh with a well-timed joke or funny story, creating memories that his loved ones will cherish forever.

Above all else, Elijah treasured his family. He is survived by his children, Kerma, Keith, Karen, and Kenneth; his nine grandchildren, Kindra, Kelton, Demere, Dayton, Jade, Kendall, Dominique, Jayla, and Kameron; and his fifteen great-grandchildren, each of whom brought him immense pride and joy. Whether gathering for special occasions, sharing a meal, or simply spending time together, Elijah’s greatest happiness came from being surrounded by those he loved.

A devoted Jehovah’s Witness, Elijah lived a life guided by faith, compassion, humility, and service to others. His legacy lives on through the family he cherished, the friendships he cultivated, and the countless lives he touched with his kindness, laughter, and wisdom. Though his presence will be deeply missed, his memory will continue to inspire all who knew and loved him, and his family finds comfort in the many treasured moments they shared with him.
