Eleanor Bross

Eleanor Belle (Harris) Bross was born on February 26,1928 in Limon, Colorado to Glenn Arthur Harris and Ruby Belle Harris. She was delighted to meet her half-brother, Gene Harris when she was 12 years old, and they enjoyed years of laughter and memory making experiences from that point on. Eleanor graduated from Limon High School in 1946. She met Hans Bross at Colorado State University and introduced him to her sorority as “Ross Heinz”. Despite that introduction, they married on January 10, 1948 in Limon, and soon made their home in Omaha.

Eleanor was an active member of Luther Memorial Church, and Omaha Artists. One of her favorite activities was to travel to Colorado with friends, and paint landscapes of the mountains. Eleanor was a member of the German American Society’s dancers “Heimat Tanzer” as well as a line-dancer for many years. She loved to play Bridge and did so regularly for much of her life. She and Hans loved to travel and camp. They had many friends, and we all know why.

Eleanor passed on December 17, 2022 at Maple Crest Health Center in Benson- a few blocks from her first home in Omaha. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Hans, her brother Gene, and her daughter-in-law Laura Bross. She is survived by sons Steven (Margie) Bross, Brian (Elizabeth) Bross, 6 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren, as well as other family members and many friends.
