Age 80 - Eleanor Katherine (Dunn) Bistline, age 80, of Omaha, Nebraska, was called to her heavenly home on January 21, 2023. Eleanor (Ellie) was born November 15, 1942 to Franklin and Rose Dunn in Charles City, Iowa. The family lived on a farm with a Marble Rock address. They attended church and school at St. Mary’s, Roseville, Iowa.

In 1952, the family moved to Alta Vista, Iowa and Eleanor attended St. Williams school graduating with the class of 1960. In 1961, Eleanor entered St. Joseph Mercy School of Nursing in Mason City, IA and graduated in 1964. Her professional career continued for 43 years. She worked as a registered nurse on a surgical floor, medical floor, special coronary care, nursing home, staff nurse, clinical instructor, Education Director, and Infection Control Nurse. Employment included Mercy Hospital of Mason City, Little Flower Haven Nursing Home of Earling, Iowa, Crawford County Memorial Hospital at Denison, IA, Iowa Western Community College at Harlan, IA, Denison Job Corps, and Western Iowa Tech College. She also worked for the Visiting Nurse Association of Omaha, Nebraska as the Infection Control Nurse, retiring in 2007.

Eleanor married Ralph V. Bistline on June 6, 1970 at Holy Family Church in Mason City, Iowa. To this union Jeffrey John and Jennifer Jean were born. She loved her family and was proud of their achievements. She attended their sports activities and yelled like other proud mothers. She gave herself a medal for cleaning, cooking, and comforting children. Eleanor always supported her husband and children. Ellie obtained her teaching certificate in 1976 and her Bachelor’s Degree in 1989. She was instrumental in starting hospice care in Denison, IA. Civic activities included the American Heart Association and American Cancer Society. Hobbies included horseback riding as a child, reading, playing cards, attending flower gardens when able, knitting, collecting and selling depression glass and enjoyed selling Tupperware. She loved music, dancing, and singing. Christmas was her favorite holiday and would decorate their home with each season.  

Eleanor is preceded in death by her parents, Franklin & Rose Dunn; cousin, Margaret "Dollie" Quinlan; brother, Bill Dunn; brothers-in-law, Carl Schupanitz, John Bistline and Gary Wandrey.  Eleanor is survived by her husband of 52 years, Ralph V. Bistline, son Jeffrey of Omaha, NE, daughter Jennifer Rasmussen (Mark) of Harlan, IA, granddaughter Cassandra Petersen and fiancé A.J. Cemore, bonus grandchildren Madison Rasmussen and Jaedan Rasmussen, sisters, Sister Ann Marie Dunn and Mary Schupanitz, brother Victor Dunn (Joan), sisters-in-law Lucile Dunn, Mary Wandrey and Betty Bistline, and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation: Thursday 5 - 7 PM with Rosary Service at 7 PM at Roeder Mortuary. Funeral Mass: Friday (1/27/2023) 10 AM at St. Leo Catholic Church, 1920 N. 102nd Street, Omaha, NE. Interment at Resurrection Cemetery, Omaha, NE. Memorials to the family.
