Edward T. Reed

Ed Reed was born in Marion, Iowa.  Married for 62 years, he is survived by his wife, Susan, and children, Justy Reed (Sara) and Jacqui Reed.  Ed and Susan moved to Omaha, Nebraska in 1961 where he began his career as a French teacher at Omaha North High School.  In this role, he was respected for his dedication and ability to inspire his students to believe in the power of knowledge.  In 1979, he became one of North High's Curriculum specialists and the magnet school's recruitment director.  He also served as Assistant Athletic Director for North from 1982-1996, in addition to other leadership roles.  Ed was a member of the Vikings of Distinction committee from 1983-2011 and was recognized and honored as a Viking of Distinction himself, in 2013.  Outside of his career, he was an avid golfer until age 85, a voracious reader, and a  well-known expert on The American Volunteer Group Flying Tigers. Ed Reed will be always remembered as an exceptional teacher, mentor and leader and will be missed forever by his family.

The Reed family will plan a celebration of Ed's life at a later date.
