Tuesday, April19, 2022 11:00 AM Omaha, National Cemetery Ed was born on November 15 th , 1946 in Huron, SD to parents, Harry and Betty Hale. He had two older sisters, Judy and Vicki. Ed joined the Army in 1967, was stationed overseas for 2 years and spent one year in Omaha as a recruiter. This is where he met his wife, Connie. They were married in July of 1970 and were blessed with three beautiful children: Laura, Lisa and Scott. After a short stint with the Douglas County Sheriff’s Department, he joined the Omaha Police Department in 1972 and retired from there in 2002. After a few months he came back to the department, as a part time employee at central station, where he worked until 2020. In 2013 the family suffered the loss of their oldest daughter, Laura. Despite the loss of his daughter, Ed thrived off his loved grandchildren and great-grandchildren: Amber, Tyler, Morgan, Markus, Austen, Eric, Issi, Jackson, Osborn, Brody and Aislyn Ed loved making people laugh. He would tell the silliest jokes and would laugh so hard, he would be moved to tears. He enjoyed Nebraska football, Creighton basketball, and playing bridge with his friends at the Omaha Bridge Club. Ed loved his beautiful wife, Connie. Whether they were out to lunch at one of their favorite spots, out for a drive to watch the deer at Chalco Hills, or taking a short vacation to watch Sandhills cranes, or look at fall foliage, they loved spending time together. Ed will be missed by his family and countless friends and colleagues. Memorials to the family for later designation.
