Eddie Stevens, III was born on December 8, 1941 in New Orleans, Louisiana, to the late Mary Louise and Eddie Stevens, Jr. He was the oldest of four children.

Eddie was educated in the Chicago and Evanston, Illinois school systems. He graduated from Evanston Township High School , where he played football and ran track. Based on his outstanding athletic achievement, Eddie earned a scholarship to play football at the University of North Dakota. He later returned to his alma mater Evanston Township High School where he served as an educational leader in various roles as a teacher, coordinator of the AAA program, coordinator of evening school, tennis coach and Dean of Students. During this time Eddie’s unique style impacted the lives of thousands of students and families. Eddie retired from ETHS after 33 years of extraordinary service.

On August 3, 1995 Eddie married his soulmate Donna Stringer. This union formed a blended family that consists of three sons and two daughters. Eddie was proud of the life he and Donna made together. They traveled to many places, visiting children and grandchildren and enjoyed hosting family events. Eddie had many hobbies including reading, fishing and building. Eddie’s real passion was in the kitchen where he loved sharing his special cooking and baking skills. He is known for his fried catfish, fried chicken, homemade ice cream and pound cake. His family affectionately called him “Donaboy”.

Eddie completed his earthly journey and went home to be with the Lord on March 16, 2018 at home in Omaha, Nebraska with his wife Donna by his side. He leaves this world a wealthy man rich in the love of family and friends. His wisdom, humor, personality, infectious smile and finger-licking good meals will be missed.

He is preceded in death by his parents Mary Louise and Eddie Stevens, Jr. Left to cherish his memory and continue on his legacy, his wife, Donna Stevens; sons, Eddie, IV and Charlie Stevens, Cameron Campbell; daughters, Camille and Brittney Campbell; grandchildren, Ashley, Eddie, V, Peyton and Justin Stevens, Amelia, Olivia, Onna and Theresa Campbell; sisters, Sondra Gunn , Cynthia Onyejekwe , Gwendolyn Cain ; brother-in-law, Robert Stringer, III ; sister-in-law, Barbara Stringer; daughter-in-law, Holly Stevens; a dedicated cousin Randolph Relf; a dedicated aunt Glenda Mitter; dear friends, Yvonne and Robert Crockett, William Dunn, Mary Beth and John Jameson and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Eddie’s life will be honored Saturday, March 24, 2018, Celebration of Life Service 1:00 p.m., Roeder Mortuaries, 2727 North 108
