Dwayne Joseph Kelley was born May 29, 1944 in Harrison County, Woodbine, Iowa. He was the first of 7 children born to L. J. (Bud) and Darlene (Thiles) Kelley. At the time of his death at age 78, he was the Patriarch of both the Kelley and Thiles families.

Dwayne graduated from Woodbine High School in 1962 and spent the next several years farming with his father. He enlisted in the lowa Army Reserve in September 1965. After serving his country, he began a 43 plus year career as a Sales Representative for Nogg Paper Co, Supply Works and Home Depot. He earned numerous Sales Awards over the years.

In 1975 he married Diane Van Buren. A son, David, was born to this union.

Dwayne was very active in Western Pleasure Horse Shows, owned, showed, and judged. He also worked with 4-H youth. His all-time favorite was a group of Downs Syndrome children who he introduced to the joys of horseback riding, petting and grooming.

Dwayne was an avid basketball fan and enjoyed watching his son David play for Millard South High School. His favorite college team was the Duke Blue Devils.

He was a favored uncle to his nieces and nephews as well as all aunts, uncles and cousins and will be surely missed.

Dwayne is preceded in death by his parents and brother Larry. He is survived by his son David Kelley, grandson Casey Kelley, sisters Mary (Earl) Zeigler, Doris Williams, Marge (Del) Zuern, Edna McCool and brother Charles Kelley.
