Doris V. Allendorfer

Doris Virginia Allendorfer peacefully entered into the gates of heaven Friday morning, October 18, 2024. She was born March 10, 1924 in Rock County, Nebraska.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 62 years: Robert Allendorfer; parents: Walter and Polly Wells; brothers: Fred Wells, Wilbur Wells and Robert Wells; and son-in-law Charles Tichy. She is survived by son: Michael (Barb) Allendorfer; daughter: Karen Tichy; son: Philip (Corellen) Allendorfer; 6 grandchildren; and 9 great grandchildren. She had nieces and nephews, and many friends.

Bob and Doris moved from O’Neill to Omaha in 1957. Serving God at their local church and sharing the Bible with their children was their priority. Though they had little formal education, they worked long hours to provide a college education for their three children. Later in life, Bob and Doris were able to travel. Highlights include visiting their granddaughter in Germany, seeing Alaska and many national parks.

Doris was a joy to be with as she loved to hear about her friends and family’s activities. Her sharp mind made her a formidable Scrabble player and the Jumble was the best part of the newspaper. Her hand-made scrubbies will be missed. She loved being a part of the church sewing group and always wanted to be useful.

In March 2024, all of her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren were able to celebrate her 100th birthday together with other family and dear friends. It was a special time. She will leave a big hole in her family, but they are so thankful for the years she was here.
