Donald Irvin Taschner

Donald Irvin Taschner, age 83, of Omaha, Nebraska, formally of Wisconsin Rapids, Wisconsin, passed away on July 9, 2026.

Born on August 9, 1942, in Wisconsin Rapids, WI, he was the son of the late Harvey and Leona (Winters) Taschner.

Donald served a short time in the US Air Force and was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary in Wisconsin Rapids.

Don worked at Edgewater Nursing Home in Wisconsin Rapids, Best Western Motel and most recently delivering newspapers for the Daily Tribune. The job he enjoyed the most was spent driving semi with his wife of 46 years, Judith Sheard-Robers. After retiring from trucking, they spent many years taking drives in the country and enjoying local sights. They also loved shooting darts and camping. Donald was preceded in death by his parents, Harvey and Leona (Winters Taschner; his brother, Vernal (LaVerne) Taschner; and his sisters, Laura (Verl) Kandler and Vivian Lois.

Donald is survived by his loving wife Judi; his daughters, Christina (Christopher) Vause of Wisconsin Rapids and Donnetta (Martin) Rendmeister of Wisconsin Rapids; his sister, Mary (Roger) Rybicki of Rudolph, Wisconsin; and his brother, John (Jonette) Taschner of Camino, California. He also leaves behind 9 grandchildren: Jeffrey, Jacob (Nichole), Jason (Carlee), Jeremy (Alisha), Joseph (Tara), Mark, Cary, Amanda, and Rebecca; and 14 great-grandchildren: Gage, Savanna, Annette, Natalie, Keegan, Harlie, Peyton, Parker, Paxton, Jacob Jr., Aaron, Canyon, Cohen, and Corbin; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins; and sister-in-law and brother-in-law: David and Susan Palmer of Elkhorn, Nebraska.

A celebration of life will follow at a later date at Herman-Taylor Funeral Home in Wisconsin Rapids, Wisconsin. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Arbor Day Foundation or a charity of your choice.
