Donald G. Kluge

Born October 18, 1940, at Grand Island, Nebraska, Don spent his childhood on the farm south of Cairo, Nebraska with parents, George and Mae Kluge, attending country school and Cairo High School. After graduation at 17, he enlisted in the Army National Guard, completing basic training in California.

Don began his education at Kearney State College (now UNK), majoring in business education. Graduating mid-year, he began teaching high school business classes at Campbell, Nebraska for the spring semester. His desire was to continue his education in accounting at the University of Nebraska at Lincoln to become a Certified Public Accountant (CPA). In addition to his studies, he met his wife, Sharon. They were married June 6, 1965. From this marriage of almost 59 years, they were blessed with children Kevin and Kim, who gave us the joy of five grandchildren: Jason, Marah, Archer, Kailey, and Monika.

Don worked for two financial firms in Omaha before starting his own CPA office in the basement of our home. He eventually established the Kluge CPA office at 620 Highway 6 in Gretna. After enjoying his work for many years and the challenge of owning his own firm, he retired at age 75. Through the years, he participated in numerous clubs, organizations, and activities: Optimist Club, Boy Scout leadership, Gretna Community Foundation, Gretna Chamber of Commerce, promoted the building of Gretna's current library, church, Gideon's, and Bible Study Fellowship.

Don also enjoyed being able to travel to all of the states of the USA, plus many foreign countries. He stayed active helping Sharon with yard chores and riding the e-bikes, weather permitting. He liked his clubs and work, but loved his family, friends, and Jesus. Don passed to his forever home on May 12, 2024. The final resting of his ashes will be at Cairo Mt. Pleasent Cemetary. If there are memorials, Don wanted them to go the Gretna United Methodist Church, the Gretna Community Foundation, or the donor's choice.

Gretna - Survived by wife Sharon, son Kevin (Margaret Dominguez) Kluge, daughter Kim (Tony) Link, grandchildren Jason, Marah, Archer, Kailey, Monika, and other family members.
