Dixie Lee Allbery

Gretna - Dixie was born Sept. 7, 1937 in Kellogg, IA to R. Mark & Zeta (Pearce) Scoville. She passed away on Sept. 7, 2023 at Brookstone Meadows rehabilitation center in Elkhorn, NE. She grew up in College Springs, IA. Dixie graduated from Amity High School in College Springs, and attended the former Omaha University.  In high school, she was a baton twirler with the marching band, and performed solos in many talent shows.

Dixie married Lyle E. Allbery on Dec. 1, 1957.  They had two loving and successful children.  John Allbery is now living in Denver, Colorado, and Tina (Allbery) Schaffer resides in Gretna.

Dixie spent much of her career as the Manager of the Gretna Apartments, and held several other administrative positions in Omaha.

She was a member of the Gretna United Methodist Church for over 60 years, and held many offices with the United Methodist Women, including District President, Conference President and Certified Lay Speaker. She was also very involved in the F.C.E.(Extension Clubs) and again held several officer positions.  She was also active with PVA and the UP Credit Union Board.  

Dixie is preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, Lyle; parents R. Mark & Zeta Scoville; siblings William Scoville, Betty Peterson, Dorothy Chase, Robert Scoville and great granddaughter Hannah Jo Leggott.

She is survived by son John (Leslie) Allbery of Denver, daughter Tina (Mark) Schaffer of Gretna, grandson Christopher; granddaughters Whitney, Alexandra, Courtney and Chelsea (Shea), great granddaughters Madilynn, Olivia,  many nephews, nieces, cousins and a multitude of friends . 

Visitation on Monday (9/11/2023) from 5 – 7 PM with Prayer Service at 6:30 PM at Gretna United Methodist Church, 11457 S 204th Street, Gretna, NE. Funeral services will be held at Gretna United Methodist Church, 11457 S 204th Street   Gretna, NE on Tuesday (9/12/2023) at 10:30 AM, with burial immediately following the church service at Elkhorn Cemetery. A luncheon will be provided by the family after the burial services back at Gretna United Methodist Church. Please provide any Memorials to the family for later designation.
