Dennis J. Schlickbernd

Bennington -  Dennis James Schlickbernd was born September 14,1951 in Columbus, Nebraska to Harold and Phyllis Schlickbernd. He was briefly an only child as he was quickly joined by his twin brother, Doug. He grew up in Beemer, Nebraska and was joined by brothers Randy, Rich, and Dan. He graduated from Guardian Angels Central Catholic High School in West Point, Nebraska in 1970.

After high school Dennis attended Norfolk College and received a degree in construction carpentry. He began his career as a carpenter in Beemer. His career continued when he opened his own business in Howells, Nebraska for several years. On a trip to Omaha with friends he met Vickie Kurtz. After a short courtship they were married August 28, 1982 in Omaha, Nebraska. 

Dennis and Vickie made their home in the Florence area of Omaha.  December 31,1983 their daughter Briana was born. In 1987 he began his career at Metropolitan Community College where he worked until 2017. In his retirement Dennis enjoyed spending time with his grandson, Brock.

Dennis is preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Phyllis Schlickbernd, and his step mother Norma Schlickbernd. As well as his in- laws Windfield and Betty Kurtz.

Dennis is survived by his wife Vickie, his daughter Briana Oleson (Eric Million), his grandson Brock Oleson, and his son-in-law Nick Oleson (Jessica Kupser). His brothers Doug Schlickbernd (Diane), Randy Schlickbernd (Dee), Rich Schlickbernd (Karen), and Dan Schlickbernd (Stacye). His sisters- in- law Cindy Kurtz, Karon Samson (Mark), and Roxeann Yttri. His brothers- in- law Bud Kurtz (Susan) and Bill Kurtz (Gail). Many cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Celebration of life to be held Saturday, September 9, 2023 at 10:00am at Roeder Mortuary 2727 N. 108th Street.
