Denise M. Stark

Gretna - Denise Marie (Olson) Stark was born in St Paul, MN on June 24, 1955, and passed away on September 11, 2024, in Omaha, NE. Denise was born to Dennis and Joyce Olson and had 3 brothers Scott, Jeff and Lyle. The Olson’s lived in Saint Paul until they moved to Nebraska. Denise graduated from Waterloo High School in 1973.

Denise married Dennis Stark in 1975. Together Denny and Denise had 3 children, Becki, Casey and Steven. They raised their family in Gretna. Sadly, she lost Denny to cancer in 2003. 

Denise adored her two grandchildren, Tyler and Emily. She took them on numerous vacations and adventures even attending college visits. 

Denise worked many years at Control Data in Omaha until they closed. Afterwards, she worked for her family’s trucking company, Nebraska Atlantic Transportation with her brothers and many nieces and nephews until retirement. 

Denise loved to play sports. She played softball and loved to razz the batters when she played catcher. She also bowled on a league for many years. 

Denise married Les Runge in August 2014. After Denise and Les retired, they continued to live in Gretna along with many friends.

After a few years of retirement, Denise got a part time job at a local gas station and enjoyed getting to know her regular customers.

She loved to have a good time and joke. Denise loved cooking and spent a lot of her free time cooking for those she loved and collecting kitchen gadgets. Denise often put loved ones ahead of herself. She loved to spoil her kids and grandkids. 

Denise is proceeded in death by husband Dennis Stark, parents Dennis & Joyce Olson, brother Lyle Olson and infant brother Dennis Jr. She is survived by husband Les Runge, children Rebecca (Travis) Burns, Casey Stark, Steven Stark, grandchildren Tyler Burns, Emily Burns, brothers Scott (Robin) Olson, Jeff (Sharon) Olson, sister-in-law Peggy Olson, many nieces, nephews, and friends.

 Visitation Sunday 3:00 – 5:00 PM at mortuary. Funeral Service 10:30 AM Monday (9/16/24) at Roeder Mortuary. Graveside Service Monday 2:00 PM Pleasant View Cemetery Leshara, NE. Memorial to Gretna American Legion, Community Alliance, Stephen Center.
