Delores A. Nimps

Delores Alice Nimps, 86, of Omaha, Nebraska passed away on January 23, 2026, surrounded by family in the house she so treasured, her home for 61 years.

Delores was born on February 25, 1939 in Dwight, Nebraska to Emil Janousek and Mary (Nevole) Janousek, the fourth of eight children in her family. She attended several elementary schools in Butler County and Saunders County, including Weston Public School. Delores graduated from David City High School in 1957.

On August 30, 1958 Delores married Ronald Nimps of St. Peter, Minnesota and started a family that would grow to five children: Roger (1959); Nancy (1960); Gary (1962); Julie (1964); and, Tom (1974).

Immediately after high school graduation Delores moved to Lincoln, Nebraska and found work at the Russell Stover factory. After her marriage she became a proud stay-at-home-mom who augmented family finances by providing child care services in her home.

Delores was entirely devoted to Ron and their family. Her greatest pleasure was spending time with her family, especially on Christmas Eve, but really anytime her growing family was in one place. She and Ron loved to travel throughout the United States and also enjoyed adventures in Ireland and the Czech Republic. Polka festivals figured prominently in her list of favorite things. Friends and family remember her joy and her constant smile.

Delores was preceded in death by her daughter: Nancy Andersen (2024); and her daughter-in-law: Chris Nimps (2017); a daughter and daughter-in-law gone much too soon. Also preceding Delores in death were her parents: Emil and Mary Janousek; her brothers: Alfred Janousek, Emil Janousek, Leonard Janousek, Richard Janousek, and Dennis Janousek; and her sister: Lucille Tichy.

Delores is survived by her husband of 67 years: Ron; and her children and their spouses and partners: Roger Nimps (Allison Gilmore) of Dublin, Ohio; Gary Nimps (Norma Sanchez) of Omaha; Julie Trevarrow (Brian) of Omaha; Tom Nimps (Robert Tisdel) of Omaha; and son-in-law: Chad Andersen. Her 11 grandchildren include: Brian Hemmer (Amanda), Steven Hemmer (Melissa), Jeffrey Hemmer (Carrie), Jared Nimps, Kathy Hubbard (D. J.), Erin Franks (DeAngelo), Ashlee Crain (Martez), Ronni Nimps (Ben Richards), Emma Nimps (Jeff Townsend), Bradley Trevarrow (Kassie), and Michael Trevarrow. Her 23 great-grandchildren are: Addy and Bryce Hemmer, Aubrey, Ezekiel, and Salome Hemmer, Julia, Charles, and Owen Hemmer, Kaden, Jaxson, and Sawyer Nimps, Jensen and Easton Hubbard, Xander and Schuyler Franks, Haleigh, Everleigh, Jaileigh, and Antonio Crain, Zoe and Mae Richards, and Blake and McKenna Trevarrow.
