Dawn Marie Allen, 86, passed away peacefully at home on January 18, 2026. Born July 7, 1939 in Rockford, IL, she was a beloved daughter, wife, mother, sister and grandmother. Dawn spent most of her young years between Omaha and Rockford with her family until she met her later to be husband, Jim Allen, at the age of fourteen.
Dawn graduated from Central High School, married her childhood sweetheart and went on to work in various jobs that ended up focusing on Human relations and administration type positions. She enjoyed golfing, bowling, camping and basically any social activity.
Dawn is preceded in death her daughter: Kimber Le Hurt; son: Timothy Troy Allen; and her husband: James Guy Allen. She leaves behind her two remaining children, son: James Guy Allen, Jr.; and daughter: Jaeme Lynn Allen Bruckner (Tim).
Dawn lived a life that centered around her family. Summers were spent sitting on the patio watching grandchildren learn to swim in the pool that she meticulously kept running smoothly for the last 40 plus years. Our mother’s door was always open and once you were brought into the fold you were always included, no invite needed. Family reunions used to be held annually until marriages and deaths threw our calendars into disarray. Some would say there were years when the friends challenged the actual number of blood related relatives.
Dawn traveled a lot in the last few years. She saw the Oregon coast and the Black Hills with her son, James. She saw the coast of California, Arizona’s deserts and mountains, Tombstone and went off roading and hiking with her daughter and son-in-law.
Most of the family traveled to Mexico to celebrate her 85th birthday which will remain a highlight in most of our lives. Never have you seen a woman so vibrant and full of life. We lost track of how many people sang her happy birthday and offered to be adopted by her.
She was our matriarch, our rock and our soft spot. She listened and did not judge; she kept secrets and her eyes twinkled when she was about to spill some tea.
It is not just her children she leaves behind but also her siblings: Curtis Paul-Petersen (Dorothy), Karen Miller (Frank) and Ruth Johnson (Robert); and numerous nieces and nephews.
Our hearts ache for her 9 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren and her first great-great-grandchild. Even though some of them have had her in their lives for 40 plus years, there is never enough time. There will be weddings missed where she will not be able to brush a hair from a jacket or gaze lovingly at a blushing bride and pass on a smirk and wink with her beautiful sassy blue eyes.
We will do our best to make her proud and keep the Allen Mafia strong. She was a woman who left not only an imprint in her yard with her beautifully landscaped flower beds but also left a warm imprint on the hearts of everyone who met her.
There will be a Visitation: 5:00-7:00 PM Thursday (1/29/2026) at Roeder Mortuary 108th Street Chapel with Service: 12:00 PM Friday (1/30/2026) also at Roeder Mortuary 2727 N. 108th St. Omaha, Nebraska; Burial will be at West Lawn-Hillcrest Cemetery in Omaha, Nebraska.
