David Charles Cordon, COL USAF (RET), passed away after a courageous battle on June 14, 2024, at the age of 67 at home in Papillion, NE, surrounded by his loving wife and children. Born to Mary and Forrest Cordon in Shelley, Idaho, on August 29, 1956, David's life was marked by his unwavering dedication, strength, and love for his family.

David had a distinguished and honorable career in the United States Air Force in various leadership roles and served as both a helicopter and fixed-wing bomber pilot. He dedicated 30 years of his life to serving his country at various duty stations in Alabama, Virginia, California, Oklahoma, Texas, Guam, Kuwait, Louisiana, and Nebraska. His commitment to his country was only surpassed by his dedication to his Savior and loved ones. Even in his final seven months, he demonstrated remarkable resilience and fortitude, serving as an inspiration to all who knew him even through his trials of illness.

David's devotion extended throughout his life to his church and to his Savior Jesus Christ. He was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, serving in various roles and undertaking a two-year church mission in Oklahoma at the age of 19. His commitment to his faith and community inspired his children to serve in diverse capacities, whether in the military or in their communities. David loved to travel, discover new foods, scuba dive, was an avid reader of history, and was a lifelong learner. He cherished the time he spent exploring the world with his wife and children.

David will be remembered for his fun-loving attitude, patience, humility, integrity, and unwavering dedication to his family. He was a model example of a disciple of Christ, touching the lives of all he knew with his compassion and generosity.

David is survived by his beloved wife, Kathleen Colton; his children Chantell, Curtis, Stephen, April, Brent, Amy, Kayla, and Amber; his three siblings, Janice, Craig, and Denise; and 14 beloved grandchildren, all of whom brought immense joy and pride to his life.

A visitation will be held on Sunday, June 23rd, from 4-6 PM at Roeder Mortuary, located at 11710 Standing Stone, Gretna, NE. A celebration of David's life will be held on Monday, June 24th, 2024, at 10 AM at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 12009 S. 84th St., Papillion, NE. A short ceremony with military honors will follow at the Omaha National Cemetery, located at 14250 Schram Rd, Omaha, NE, to honor his memory and the profound impact he had on those around him.

David's legacy of love, bravery, service, and sacrifice will live on in the hearts of those who knew him and will continue to inspire future generations.
