Darlene E. White

Blair -  Darlene White, 88, passed away peacefully on February 20, 2024 in Fremont, Nebraska. Darlene was born and raised in Omaha, and graduated from Omaha Tech High School in 1953. After graduating, she worked for Associated Retailers of Omaha. She married Edward Joseph White on November 1, 1957 at St. John’s Catholic Church on the campus of Creighton University.


Darlene raised their four children and enjoyed her years as a homemaker. Along with kids activities, she also kept busy by being involved in golf and bowling leagues with her neighborhood friends, cooking and baking, hosting holiday parties for her family, and by volunteering at Kountze Memorial Lutheran Church with her sisters and her church family.

After her kids were grown, Darlene decided to return to the workforce when an opportunity arose to work in the Kountze office. She would work there for many years, even after Ed’s retirement, because of her love of the church and the people she worked with. 

Darlene was an avid reader, she loved cooking, and baking, volunteering, vacations with family, and spending time with her children and grandchildren. 

She is preceded in death by her parents, Gifford and Alice Anderson, Gifford Anderson (brother), George Pickinpaugh (brother in law), Betty Bass (sister), Wes Bass (brother in law), Bessie Swanson (sister), Walter Swanson Jr (brother in law), and Edward White (husband).

She is survived by her sister, Alice Pickinpaugh; children Allyson White, Joel (Cathy) White, Ann (Scott) Jensen, John (Christi) White; grandchildren Andrew (Jessica) White, Thomas (Sarah) White, James White, Elisabeth (Andy) Dunkle, Holly White, Jack White, Anderson Kinsey, Grace Kinsey; great grandchild Benjamin White; Many nieces, nephews, and friends.

              

Visitation Thursday (2/29/24) 5 - 7 PM at Roeder Mortuary. Funeral Service 10:30 AM Friday (3/1/24) at Kountze Memorial Lutheran 2650 Farnam  Omaha, NE. Interment Forest Lawn Cemetery. Memorials to Kountze Memorial Lutheran Food Pantry.
