Danny Earl Burkhalter

Danny Burkhalter, aged 62, of Northport, Alabama, peacefully passed away in Omaha, Nebraska on September 13, 2023. He was a cherished son, brother, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and uncle, leaving behind cherished memories and a profound impact on those who knew him.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Jimmie and Lonnie Bunton, his father, Henry Lee Mitchell, and his sons, Joseph Dupree Jones, Damien Branch, and D'Angelo Branch. He was also preceded in death by his brothers, Willie Charles Bunton, and Lonnie Moore.

Born on March 2, 1961, in Northport, Alabama, Danny eventually settled in Omaha, Nebraska, in 1968, where he built a life filled with love and devotion to his family. Surviving Danny are his sisters, Marsha (Oscar) Watson, Sandra Little, and Sharon Bunton, and brother Tony Thomas He was a proud father of his children: Danny Stubblefield, Janis Burkhalter, Sandra Burkhalter, James Branch, Danzel Branch, and Kiana Branch. His nurturing care extended to Carlisa Branch, Chaunita Wells, Steven Branch, Antwain Knight, and George Branch, whom he loved as his own. Danny's grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews held a special place in his heart, each leaving an indelible mark on his soul.

A hardworking man, Danny's hands possessed the touch of a skilled craftsman. He honed the art of plumbing under the guidance of his beloved uncle, Levelle Richardson. With each task, he took pride in his abilities, often exclaiming, "Hey, I'm a bad man!" His determination and knack for fixing things were a testament to his character.

Danny found solace and strength in his faith, finding a spiritual home at Greater New Hope Baptist Church, where he was baptized as a young child. While in Alabama Danny became a proud member of Sanctuary of Hope Tuscaloosa.

His unwavering commitment to his faith was a cornerstone of his life, sustaining him to the very end. When not engaged in his profession or spending time with friends, Danny enjoyed the simple pleasure of cooking a good meal and collecting watches. His favorite passion, however, was a friendly game of pool. Eager to take on a challenger on "his" pool table, he quickly stepped up to the challenge.

Among the enduring memories of Danny, none shone brighter than his unceasing affection for his beloved wife, Shenoria McKinstry Burkhalter, whom he affectionately referred to as his "Baby" and proclaimed she was his wife, regardless of the circumstances.

The sudden departure of Danny has left a void in the hearts of all fortunate enough to know and cherish him. Danny's sisters, guided by the wishes of their mother, Jimmie Bunton, cared for him and safeguarded his wellbeing. His love and spirit will forever illuminate the hearts of those privileged to have shared in his journey.
