Daniel "Scooter" M. Kemp

Daniel (Scooter) was born to the late Stephen Raymond Kemp, Sr and Mattie Kemp Jenkins on June 1, 1966.  He was raised in Omaha and made it his home.

Scooter was proud to be a Bunny at Benson High School.  Scooter went on to continue his education at Metro Community College. In 2010, he achieved and was awarded an Associate Degree in Culinary Arts.  In a short, he rose to be one of Omaha’s most popular Executive Chefs.  His management teams would often select Scooter to travel to different cities in the country.  He was tasked to establish new franchise restaurants incorporating his unique style of preparing a wide variety of dishes and meals.

Scooter’s family are members of North Omaha’s Church of the Living God.  Early this year he rededicated his life to Jesus Christ.  Scooter is known to have three (3) First, his beautiful and kind mother, Mattie Jenkins, second, his love for God and third and certainly not last is basketball.  I was delighted to learn from his family and friends that his all-time favorite player is none other than himself. Yes, he is his favorite basketball player.  He enjoyed other sports which included the exciting games of chance.

Those that were honored to have him as a family member, friend or colleague describe him as being the following: God fearing, Kind, Good, Ethical, Generous, Helpful, Encouraging, Open minded, Non-judgmental, Positive, Sociable, Easy Going, Great Sense of Humor (no matter his situations) and Calm.  What Scooter is most known for his ability to bring peace where he went and to selflessly make peace if he found an absence of it about to brew.  To so many, just the thought of him brings smiles to faces and light to hearts.

He leaves those to cherish his memory.  His son, Akillez Marvane Kemp (Keeley), one older brother, Vincent and one younger, Delano (Dino). He has two (2) older sisters, Angela (Penny Kemp) Berry and Rachele Kemp. Scooter was preceded to heaven by two (2) brothers Stephen R. Kemp, Jr. and Terrence L Kemp.  Scooter a very large loving family with at least twenty (20) first cousins, Aunts and Uncles the continuing generations to come will have his spirit of Peace and Love to share as the family grows and thrives to like Scooter make a difference in the World by making positive, genuine, healthy relationships.

There will be a Celebration of Life Service on Thursday, June 1, 2023 from 5-7 PM at Roeder Mortuary – Ames Chapel, 4932 Ames Avenue, Omaha, Nebraska.
