The world got a little dimmer—and heaven a little livelier—when Corinne (Taute) Wastell left us November 4, 2025 in Omaha, Nebraska. Born in Fort Lewis, Washington on January 29, 1942, to Delbert and Gretchen (Eberle) Taute, Corinne brought energy, curiosity, and wit to her 83 years.
Corinne grew up in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, where she spent her formative years and graduated from Washington High School. She was active band, drama, 4-H sewing. Corinne was especially proud of winning a cherry pie baking contest. She went on to earn her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from South Dakota State University. She married Marvin Wastell, and—true to her adventurous spirit—tolerated Marvin relocating the family through five different states before they settled in Omaha 40 years ago.
Corinne shared her love of nursing at every level: in practical nursing programs, high school health-care vocational classes, and junior-college clinicals. Pediatrics was her favorite—children made her smile. In 1979, she left formal nursing to partner with Marvin in building their businesses, NutriPlus, Inc. and Gro Master, Inc.
Corinne lived life with a desire to be in the know. She loved to read, traveled the world with Marvin, served faithfully as a church council member at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Millard, NE, and gave her time and talents to Optimist International’s Nebraska District. She was known for her one-liners, her joyful smile, and her sharp wit.
Corinne is survived by her husband of many decades, Marvin; her children Andrea (Brad) Ackermann, Blaine (Ellen) Wastell, and Chad (Anna) Wastell; her grandchildren Ryan, Evan (Fany), Tristen (Mel), Nicole (Josh), KJ, Elijah, and Malachi; and great-grandchild Aliyah and step-great-grandchild Aiden. She is also survived by brother-in-law Bob Wilson, sister-in-law Wilma Johnson, and many beloved nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents; sister Evie Wilson; brothers-in-law Gerald Wastell and Loren Johnson; and sister-in-law Darlene Wastell.
In lieu of flowers, Corinne’s family invites donations to the Alzheimer’s Association, in the hope that future families may be spared the weight of this insidious disease or they can be made to St. Paul Lutheran Church Memorial Fund.
Funeral arrangements to follow. Until then, we invite friends and family to honor Corinne by telling a good story, sharing a well-timed quip, and—above all—finding joy in the people around you, just as she always did.
