On April 13th, Chris passed away, she is preceded in death by her first husband Rudy R. Pospisil, and then by her second husband, Walter (Walt) Fischer, she is survived by her son Rudy J. (Rebecca) Pospisil, two grandsons: Nicholas (Lyndsay), Matthew (Amanda), her five great grandchildren, and her two step daughters in law and their families, Linda and Jim Keuhl, Sherri and Craig Buford.
Chris grew up in post World War Frankfurt, Germany. Chris met Rudy in West Germany during his service in the armed services. They married and had a son, then emigrated to the US in 1961. They settled in Lincoln for a short amount of time prior to moving to Omaha. They settled in North Omaha and lived there for over 60 years.
Chris was ahead of her time, being a working woman in the mid 60’s working at Central National Insurance. She served as President of AWA (American Women’s Association). Omaha chapter. An interesting side bar- when Chris and Rudy qualified for their mortgage, Chris had to sign a letter that she would continue to work in order to gain loan approval.
She left insurance and began a lengthy career in the employment personnel business Midland Personnel Lincoln, Omaha, and Council Bluffs. Later Rudy and Chris opened Midtown Personnel in Council Bluffs where they worked until their retirement.
Chris was true to her strong German roots, she loved her new adopted country, the State of Nebraska and its football team. She loved the water, boating, swimming, tending her roses, her garden and yard. She found physical fitness in her 70s at the “Y” on Maple Street, spin class, weights, and treadmilling. Her physical fitness friends filled her most recent social calendar.
Chris requested no service, no flowers, just a peaceful passing. If you would like to honor her memory, please donate to Josie Harper Hospice House.
