Cheryl Lee Reeson, 69, of Omaha, passed away August 17, 2026 at home. Cheryl was born March 31, 1957 to Elmer and Leona (Melland) Buhlmann in Spalding, Nebraska. She grew up a proud member of the Akron farming community west of Albion. She attended District 60 grade school through the 8th grade, at times riding her beloved horse Nicker to school. She graduated from Albion High School in 1975 and from Wayne State College in 1980. At Wayne State Cheryl met the love of her life, Robert Reeson. They married August 19, 1983 and have three sons, Christopher, Craig and Tyler. Cheryl loved being a mom and taught their sons early the value of reading through their constant trips to the library.
Cheryl was an active member of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church. She taught Catechesis of the Good Shepherd and Sunday School for over 30 years. She assisted in bringing Holy Communion to the homebound and with funeral luncheons. Cheryl loved plants and flowers and was an avid gardener and enjoyed giving relatives, friends and neighbors plants, flowers, fresh vegetables and strawberries from her gardens.
Cheryl is preceded in death by her parents and sister-in-law Vikki Buhlmann. She is survived by her husband, sons and siblings: LeAnne (Charles) Eggers of Neligh, Gottfried Buhlmann of Albion, Brenda (Roger) DeMay of Waukee, Iowa, Richard (Teri) Buhlmann of Broken Bow and Larry Buhlmann of Lexington. She also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, and many dear friends.
The funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 am on Monday August 24th at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church in Omaha, followed by a luncheon in the parish center. Visitation will be on Sunday August 23rd at Roeder Mortuary, 2727 N 108th Street, from 5 to 7 pm followed by a vigil service at 7 pm. Memorials can be made to St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church or the American Cancer Society.
