Charlesetta Cox

Charlesetta Cox moved from Vinita, Oklahoma to Omaha, Nebraska in 1954 with her family. She attended both Long and Kellom elementary schools and graduated from Omaha Technical High School. Charlesetta always talked about becoming a nurse and fulfilled her passion by attaining her Licensed Practical Nurse degree on December 9, 1985. She hired on with Immanuel Fontenelle Nursing Home January 25, 1986. She had a great love for her senior patients and although she retired April 15, 2015, she continued sharing her love through volunteer work. Her nursing skills extended beyond the walls of Immanuel Fontenelle. Even though retired, her nursing duties continued by helping with ailments of family, friends and even strangers. Charlesetta was a faithful member of Pilgrim Baptist Church. She held various positions, i.e., Deaconess, Church clerk and Sunday school teacher. Also, she was one of the initial nurses keeping members and friends safe during the COVID-19 pandemic (taking temperatures while social distancing at church). She loved taking pictures prompting her to enroll in a photography course at Metro Tech Community College. She also enjoyed traveling, going as far as Africa, quilting and working in her flower garden. On Monday, November 1, 2021 Charlesetta departed this life peacefully in her home with her family at her side. She was preceded in death by her parents, Willie and Vivian Jackson, brother Willie Jackson, Jr. and husband George Cox. She leaves to cherish her memories her children: LaDonna, Charlie , Corliss, Cornell, Quincy White, Lover Joyce and Calvin Lyncook; Sisters: Shirley Coffey, Lillian Dacus, Hortence Miller, Gwen Murray, Vera Jackson and Brenda Lee; brothers Richard Wooten and Ernest Jackson. And a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and adopted brothers, sisters and children. A Celebration of Life Service for Charlesetta will be held at Noon, Monday, November 8, 2021 at the Florence City Hall, 2864 State St., Omaha, Nebraska 68112.
