Charles Wayne Smith

Charles (Chuck) Wayne Smith, was born September 13, 1947 in Biloxi, MS to Douglas & Betty Jean (Brown) Smith. He graduated in 1966 from Childersburg High School in Alabama. His nickname in high school was "Smiley" because he always had a smile on his face.  After graduation he entered the Airforce and stationed at Offutt Air Force Base in Bellevue, NE.  In January 10^th 1970 he married Marcella Smith and they had seven children.   

Chuck loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  He was a diehard Alabama Crimson Tide Football fan.  He loved cheering them on even while being in Husker Nation. 

During his time at Madonna, he loved going to Mass, Playing Bingo and numerous other activities that Madonna hosted.  He looked forward to these and truly enjoyed them.

Preceded in death by his parents Douglas and Betty Smith, brother Harold Smith, sisters Patricia Orr and Barbara Smith, son David Smith and granddaughter Lindsay Young.

Survived by children Ron (Dee) Smith, Kelly (Leigh) Smith, Michael (Lynette) Smith, Daniel (Samantha) Smith, Christina Young, and Dianna Wright; siblings David Smith, Curtis Smith and Carol Smith all residence of Alabama. Also survived by numerous friends and staff at Madonna Rehab Hospital in Lincoln. 

Memorial Mass: 11:00 a.m. Friday, October 20, 2023 at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, 14330 Eagle Run Drive, Omaha, Nebraska.

Interment: 1:30 p.m. Friday, October 20, 2023 at Omaha National Cemetery, 14250 Schram Rd, Omaha, Nebraska.
