Charles Rick Doty

Omaha - Charles Richard Doty, known by all as Rick Doty was born and raised in Grand Island Nebraska. He recently passed away on 10/1/2024 at age 72 and is greatly missed by so many. He was proceeded in death by his parents, Lewis and Margaret Doty. He leaves behind his older sister and brother in law, Diane Doty Dice and John Dice and 4 nieces and nephews and their spouses Scott Dice, Sara Wajda, Mickey Loges, and Zach Dice. Rick loved all his family and friends but always held a special place in his heart for his two daughters. His eldest daughter, Dr Kelly Christine Harnick (Doty) amongst her infinite memories, can still see him beaming as she walked across the stage earning her doctorate at Loyola University and the University of Notre Dame. His youngest daughter Sydney Sierra Doty, he was very proud as she walked across the stage earning her bachelor’s degree from the University of Nebraska, Omaha. He also leaves behind numerous friends and of special mention, his significant other, best friend, and confidant Dr. Kathleen Dubas. Rick was a star athlete at Barr Junior high and Grand Island Senior High as the football team quarterback and was also known for his athletic talents as the baseball team pitcher. He even had a Coney Island hot dog named after him in the late 1960’s. He went on and attended University of Nebraska Lincoln after graduating Grand Island Senior High Class of 1970. He worked for the Union Pacific Railroad managing high wide loads for over 30 years and then was promoted to executive management before he retired. Rick’s laugh was infectious, he was intelligent on and off the field, and most important he had a one of a kind compassionate heart to all he came in touch with. Rest in Peace Dad, you are loved by all.
