Cathy S. Hasegawa

Cathy Hasegawa, 71, passed away July 31, 2023, at Legato Living in Omaha, Nebraska.  A memorial service for Cathy will be held on Tuesday, August 15, from 4 to 7 pm at Roeder Mortuary, 2727 N 108^th Street.  The family requests that in lieu of flowers donations in her honor be made to the Franciscan Day Center, 900 N 90^th Street, Omaha, 68114.

Cathy was born in Omaha to Hans and Evelyn Stoltenberg on September 14, 1951, the youngest of five children.  She grew up in Sioux Falls, SD, and graduated from Washington Senior High School in 1969. On August 31, 1970, she married her high school sweetheart, Stephen Hasegawa.  They moved to Omaha in 1973, where Stephen had taken a position with Union Pacific Railroad.  She concentrated on raising their children until both were in grade school. Cathy then worked for a variety of local businesses until she and Stephen retired in 2009.

Cathy found her dream home in 1994 and spent countless hours finding ways to decorate it.  She loved antiques and accumulated a variety of pieces which were displayed in every room.  Cathy loved Christmas and had an extensive Santa Claus collection which was shown throughout the house during the holidays.

She was a gentle soul with a sweet smile and wonderful sense of humor.  Happy to have shared Cathy’s life are her husband, Stephen, her children, Charles (Alyson Woracek) of Gilbert, AZ, and Tobey (Brett Stillson) of Millbury, MA, and long-time family friend, Annamarie Flowers of Omaha.  Her memory is also cherished by grandchildren Ashton and Ainsley Hasegawa, Isabella and Sam Ruiz; her sisters Sharon (Sid Ideker) and Barbara Noll of Sioux Falls, Linda (Bruce Peterson) of Pierre, SD; Sam Hasegawa (Gail Cain) of Sioux Falls, Carol Hasegawa (Fung Eng) of Honolulu, HI, Claudia Hasegawa of Minneapolis, MN, and many nieces and nephews.
