Carter Leeka, 71, of Omaha passed away on February 7, 2023 at his home surrounded by family after a three year battle with cancer.

Carter was born in Nebraska City to Carter and Edna Leeka on November 28, 1951. After Carter graduated from Benson High School in 1970, he went on to receive a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Education from Wayne State College in 1974, followed by a Master of Arts in Musical Performance, Conducting, and Tuba from Ball State University in 1977.

Carter had a 40+ year career sharing his love of music and the arts with people of all ages. Many of his creative adventures included learning, leading, and performing at the Joslyn Art Museum, Iowa Western Community College Chamber Ensemble and Concert Band, Southwest Community Band, College for Kids, and Summer Stock Community Theatre. Carter directed his final musical performance on December 17, 2022 for St. Vincent DePaul Catholic Schools.

Carter is survived by his spouse of 24 years, Kimberly Wagoner; children: Carter & Lindsey Leeka, Justin Wagoner, Megan Wagoner, and Lauren Wagoner & Clinton Dale; grandchildren: Sophia Wagoner-Straub, Kayla Wagoner, Aunika Wagoner, Parker Leeka, August Leeka, Creigh Dale, and Logan Dale; brothers: Chuck & Connie Delp and Scott Delp & David Johnson. Memorials to be dedicated to the family for later designation.

A Celebration of Life will be held on April 1st, 2023 at 11am at Roeder Funeral Home located at 2727 N 108th St, Omaha, NE.
