A Celebration of a Well-Lived Life
Carolyn Ann Hughes, aged 69, of Omaha, Nebraska, passed away on April 13, 2026. Born in St. Joseph, Missouri, Carolyn led a life filled with warmth, kindness, and a vibrant spirit that touched everyone she encountered. She is preceded in death by her parents, Richard Ginn and Agnes Cooper; her son, Paul Hughes; two brothers, Theodore (Teddy) Hughes of St. Joseph, Missouri, and Robert Hughes of Waterloo, Iowa; and five sisters: Dorthea McKinney, Betty Hughes, Alice Cooper, Earnestine (Peaches) Irvin, and Karen Cooper.
Carolyn Ann Hughes, beloved sister, friend, and community member, passed away leaving behind cherished memories and a legacy of kindness. Carolyn found joy in life's simple pleasures-whether it was an exciting visit to the casino, listening to music of all kinds, or spending precious moments with her family and friends. Her love for shopping was matched only by her vibrant collection of Momo's, which she wore in every color, each reflecting her lively spirit. Throughout her career, Carolyn dedicated herself to dietary and housekeeping services, bringing care and diligence to those she served. She had an adventurous heart, always eager to go out and explore new places, savoring every experience. In her final days, Carolyn was lovingly cared for by her sister, whose devotion brought comfort and peace. Carolyn Ann Hughes will be truly missed by all who knew her.
Her warmth, humor, and zest for life touched everyone she met, and her memory will live on in the hearts of her loved ones. Carolyn is survived by her two sons, Orlando Hughes of Virginia Beach and Onyale Hughes of Iowa; sisters Dana Cooper of Kansas City, Nancy Hughes of Omaha, Brenda Wesley of Kansas City, and Gaylen Green of St. Joseph; Johnny Hughes (Iowa)fifteen grandchildren; a host of nieces and nephews; and many other relatives and friends. The impact she made on those around her will continue to inspire and comfort her family and community.
