Preceded in death by parents: Leo A. & Anna F. Hegarty; brothers: Bob, Austin (Bud), Don & Dean Hegarty; cousin and best friend: Ellen Jenks.
Survived by children: Rhonda Most, Becky Litke, Tim (Kris) Rathmann; 8 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
Carol Ann was born in Omaha in a house near Benson Park. She was the youngest child and only daughter. Her cousin and best friend, Ellen, was also an only daughter and both had sets of twin brothers. Carol and Ellen belonged to Nebraska Ski Club and enjoyed traveling together.
Carol Ann graduated Benson High School and wanted to be a nurse but took secretarial classes at Tech which led to her becoming a Medical Transcriptionist and Administrative Assistant. She worked at the Doctors' Hospital and then Physicians' Laboratory where she would retire after 60 years in 2018.
Carol Ann was an avid seamstress and made all of the family's clothing in the 60s. She joined a Philanthropic Women's organization Epsilon Sigma Alpha (ESA) which began a never-ending volunteer story. Through the Nebraska ESA chapter she volunteered time with the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA) and St. Jude's Research Hospital. She held many positions in both the MDA & ESA most notably as Jerry Lewis Telethon Volunteer Coordinator and International President of ESA.
Carol Ann enjoyed counted cross-stitch and collecting Longaberger baskets. She also enjoyed shopping and going to the casino to play penny slots with cousin, Ellen, by her side.
There will be a Memorial Service: 10:00 AM Thursday (10/17/2024) with a Visitation: Wednesday 5:00-7:00 PM at Roeder Mortuary 2727 N. 108th St. Omaha, Nebraska
