Carol Elaine Little

Carol Elaine Little passed away on August 19, 2026, at the age of 88. She was born November 21, 1937, to Christian and Christine (Hansen) Mathisen, the youngest of three daughters.

Carol grew up in Omaha, attending Irvington School and later Benson West, Monroe Junior

High, and Benson High School. After graduation, she attended Omaha Burroughs Bookkeeping School and began working for Physicians Clinic. Throughout her life, she also worked as a bookkeeper for H&R Block and Valentino’s. Her favorite position was serving as Parish Assistant at Holy Cross Lutheran Church, where she found a special calling in helping and listening to others.

On December 28, 1958, Carol married Willard Leon Little. They shared 64 years of marriage and raised two children, Judy and Roger. Carol devoted much of her life to her family. She was a wonderful cook and homemaker who treasured family meals, holidays, and gatherings with extended family.

Carol’s Christian faith was an important part of her life. Over the years, she was active at First English Lutheran Church, Holy Cross Lutheran Church, and St. Michael’s Lutheran Church. She served as a Sunday School teacher, youth group sponsor, and member of numerous church committees and women’s groups. She especially valued the Christian education of her children and family.

Carol enthusiastically supported her children in their education and activities, spending countless hours at music lessons, Scout meetings, concerts, games, and other events. She served as a Girl Scout and Cub Scout leader and even stepped forward with her sister Donna to coach a girls’ softball team when no coach could be found.

Carol enjoyed bridge, bowling, golf, camping, reading, jigsaw puzzles, baking, game shows, true-crime mysteries, and spending time with family and friends. She had a wonderful sense of humor and an infectious laugh. In retirement, Carol and Will loved traveling and were fortunate to visit many parts of the United States and the world.

Above all, Carol treasured being a mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She delighted in her family and took great joy in watching each new generation grow.

Carol is survived by her daughter, Judy Louise; son, Roger Little and his wife, Jane; granddaughters Anna Newell and her husband, Jacob, and Madison Little; great-grandsons Harvey Newell and Everett Newell; cousin Yvonne Kelley; and nieces and nephews Kim Stargell (Mike), Jay Little, Bart Little (Jeanette), Christy Capellupo (John), Caren Leahy, Cathy Hunt, and Donald Hunt (Jerra).

She was preceded in death by her parents, Christian and Christine Mathisen; her husband, Willard Little; sisters Dorothy Burgett and Donna Hunt; grandchildren Kayla Bolmeier and John Little; and great-grandson Cash Newell.

Carol will be remembered for her deep faith, generous heart, wonderful humor, devotion to family, and her ability to make those around her feel loved and cared for.

Funeral services will be held Monday, August 24, 2026, at 3:00 p.m. at St. Michael’s Lutheran Church, 13232 Blondo St., Omaha, NE.
