Billy Gene Jordan

Omaha -  Billy Gene Jordan was born on October 1, 1937, to the late Louis Jordan Sr. and Henrietta Cotton in Pickens, Arkansas. On Saturday, April 1, 2023, Bill passed away peacefully at his residence. He was 85. Bill was raised in a strong and loving Christian home, and he accepted Christ at an early age. Bill attended Selma High School in Selma, Arkansas. In 1953, he moved to Omaha, Nebraska, where he became a member of the Salem Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Rev. Dr. J.C. Wade Sr. In May 1996, Bill and Shirley became one and spent the next 27 years together in holy matrimony.  

Bill was a devout Sunday School teacher and a member of the Men’s Laymen. He truly enjoyed singing with the Inspirational Choir, the Men’s Chorus, the Men of Power, the Gospel Choir, the Mass Choir, and the Voices of Victory. He also enjoyed performing major roles with the drama ministry. 

In 2001, Bill received the Outstanding Performance Award as Master Technician from Huber Chevrolet for 46 years of service. Bill was an entrepreneur and the proud owner of Bill’s Wash and Detail Shop for over 15 years.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents, Louis Jordan Sr. and Henrietta Cotton; his brother, Louis Jordan Jr.; and sister, Izetta Jordan. He is survived by his beloved wife, Shirley Jordan; sons, Dan (Theresa) Jordan, James (Christi) Cloyd, Andre Jordan, and Renard Terrell; daughters, Mary Jordan, Dr. Matasha Jordan, and Shirleena Terrell; grandchildren, Brandy Jordan, Cohila Jordan, Jasmine Marie Pittman, Jamil Jordan, Joshua Jordan, Janelle Jordan, Dr. Anthony Cloyd, Alex Cloyd, Andre Josiah Jordan, Ebony (Cameron) Jordan-Cox, William Jordan, Savannah Jordan; great-grandchildren, Onyr and Onyx Cox, Michael Hannah, Melody Rose Jordan, Jor’Dyn Hunter, Ja’Nale Davis, Ja’Nya Davis, and Ja’Ques Davis; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, and friends.
