Barbara J. Dixon

Barbara Dixon will be remembered as the glue that held us all together. She was an amazing seamstress, baker, cook and life coach. Most of all, she was an amazing daughter, mother, sister, aunt, friend and confidant. Everyone has always been able to find refuge in her home, clothes for their backs, and food for their stomachs. After retiring early from her work in pharmaceutical insurance she became a crochet instructor and produced some amazing dresses, blankets, and booties of which many still cherish.

Barbara was a movie and TV buff. She loved watching Blue Bloods, The Closer, and anything Steven Seagal, Tom Selleck and Bruce Willis.

She leaves behind lasting memories of her special sense of humor, words of wisdom, and reminders to “let go and let God.” Her happiest moments were raising her two children. Barbara was an oracle of information and talents and she raised her kids to be Jack and Jane of all trades. Her Maternal covering extended beyond her children to include her family and friends.

She was born in San Francisco, CA to Dorothy and Luther Dixon Sr. She was raised and resided in Omaha, Nebraska where she became a beloved Mother to Carl J. Dixon and Khadija R. Dixon of whom she leaves behind. She’s preceded in death by parents: Dorothy M. Dixon and Luther Dixon Sr.; siblings: Keith Ward and Delores Ward; nephew: James C. Middlebrook. She is survived by three brothers: Luther, Raye, and James Dixon (Valeri); six sisters: Karen Dixon (Denver, Co), Carye Farris (Las Vegas, NV), Deirdra Dixon, Jerri Dixon Weber-Wilson, Anissa Dixon, and Shirley F. Smith of Omaha. She also leaves behind a lasting bond with nieces: Tra’Von Marshall, Zakiya Dixon, Ashley Middlebrook, and LaTasha Dixon; nephews: Antoine Dixon and Isaiah Weber and a host of other nieces and nephews, family, friends, Godchildren and siblings.
