B. Wynelle Bockman

B. Wynelle Bockman, 93, of Gretna Nebraska, passed away surrounded by family at her home on April 6th, 2025. A celebration of her life will be held at Roeder Mortuary (11710 Standing Stone Dr, Gretna) on April 11th, 2025, from 4-6pm; a funeral service will be held April 12th, 2025 at 10:30am.

Wynelle was born on November 1, 1931 in Vienna, Georgia to parents William Leonard and Mary Eugene (née Wilson) Arnold. In 1953, Wynelle met Philip Richard Bockman on a blind double date at The Varsity drive-in theater in Atlanta. The two were married on April 25, 1954 at Tippettville Baptist Church in Georgia, before moving to Omaha, Nebraska. Phil and Wynelle were avid travelers, exploring the United States with family and friends.

Wynelle lived her life with a focus on caring for others. For 35 years she worked at the Gretna Community Living Center, where she went above and beyond making sure residents felt seen and cared for. She was an active member of her local church, participating in potlucks, prayer groups, Sunday Schools, and more. But her absolute pride and joy was her family. As the matriarch of the Bockman clan, Wynelle was the first call her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren would make whenever anything of note happened. Champion baby holder, master chef, and ultimate straight-talker, it seemed she knew just what someone needed at that moment. "Grandma Winnie" as she was affectionately known, could always be counted on to share warm food, sweet treats, sage life advice, quirky sayings, and the best hugs. Day or night, wherever she was, Wynelle always put her family first.

Wynelle was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers (Joseph Cullen "JC", Thomas Harold, and Leonard Eugene Arnold), three sisters (Vera Cason, Audrey Ransom, and Linda Littler), son Charles, daughter-in-law Lori Bockman, and grandson Mason Gaddis. She is survived by her husband Philip; brother Thomas Pascal (Linda) Arnold; children Phil (Myriam) Bockman, Jeffrey Bockman, and Pam (Brandi) Bockman; grandchildren Aaron (Tobi) Bockman, Jason Bockman, Brett (Amber) Bockman, Mallory (Jake) Kennedy, Paige Bockman, Hannah (Josef) Schueler, and Kile Bockman; and great-grandchildren: Audrie, Mattie, Max, Blade, Bennie, Adelle, Adrian, Aria, Kaylie, Samuel, Andromeda, and Vincent.
