Arline Elizabeth Mussman
Late Friday afternoon, October 8th, Arline Mussman was told, “well done, my good and faithful servant. Enter into the joy of your Lord,” and went to be with her Savior. Arline was born August 28, 1925 on a farm near Alexander, Iowa. Her parents were Walter and Minnie Ahrens. Arline was raised in Iowa before moving to Nebraska where she met Oscar Mussman, whom she married on August 10, 1947.
Arline is survived by her husband, Oscar, their son Lyle and his wife Janice, their son Galen and his wife Jeffie, and their daughter Carol Jensen ; their grandchildren Lynn Schwarzenbach , Shelly Seitz , Leah Embry, Craig Mussman , and Andy Jensen ; and their great-grandchildren Callie and Cade Schwarzenbach, Avery and Riley Seitz, and Ben Embry, as well as many nieces, nephews, in-laws, and countless friends and brothers and sisters in Christ.
Arline was raised in a Christian home, confirmed in the Missouri Synod Lutheran Church, a member of Beautiful Savior Lutheran in LaVista, Nebraska and walked with Jesus every day of her life. Her husband Oscar loved her with all his heart and attended to her every need until her final breath. Arline loved her family, tirelessly served others, was a wonderful cook and baker of delicious cookies, breads, and rolls. Arline loved music and continued to participate in singing hymns with Oscar and her friends at Silver Ridge in Gretna until her final days.
Due to dementia, Arline lost her ability to remember and, at times, to think clearly. But by God’s grace, she won the battle to retain the essence of who she was: a loving, patient, caring, encouraging person who had a twinkle in her eyes every time she shared her sweet smile. She fought the good fight, finished the course and kept the faith. Everyone who knew her loved her and will miss her.
A funeral service to honor Arline and glorify God is scheduled Thursday, October 14 at 11:00 AM at Beautiful Savior Lutheran, 7706 South 96th Street, LaVista, Nebraska 68128.
