2727 N. 108th St. Omaha, NE 68164 496-9000 Arlene was born on 3/30/1947 to Clarion and Frances Haynes. As a 4-year-old child, she knew exactly what she wanted to do in life: teach. It’s no surprise that upon graduating Benson High School, she attended UNO, receiving her Bachelor’s degree and later obtaining her Master’s +30 in early childhood education. Her adult life was spent teaching in both an educational and spiritual setting. She taught at Oak Valley Elementary for 34 years, and then became a supervisor for student teachers through UNO and UNL for 16 years. A member of Covenant Presbyterian Church for 32 years, Arlene taught Sunday School and Vacation Bible School, positively impacting more than 2,000 children. She was involved in numerous small group ministries , co-founded the Prayer Shawl Ministries, and served as a Deacon and Stephen Minister. Arlene’s life was dedicated to her passion – helping others to grow and learn. She is survived by her sister-in-law: Wanda Haynes; nieces & nephews: Jody Haynes , Dawn Haynes, Kyle Haynes; 2 great-nieces: Krystal Haynes, Cherri-Anna Haynes; and a host of other loving family & friends.
