Annie Frances "FiFi" Lucas

Annie Frances “FiFi” Lucas was born December 10, 1938 in Tupelo, Mississippi to the union of Paul and Flora Willie Lee Spearman.  She was the fourth child of thirteen children. 

Proceeded in death by her husband: Finis Lucas Jr., her parents, her brothers: Walter Paul Spearman, Raymond Spearman, Artrie B Spearman, and Edward C “Buddy” Spearman, her sisters: Margaret S Lockett, Hester Lee Luster, and Amanda E Reynolds.

Frances was educated in Tupelo, Mississippi and East St Louis, Illinois school districts. While living in St. Louis, Illinois, Frances worked on the SS Admiral where she enjoyed cruising the Missouri River. 

In the early sixties, she moved to Omaha, Nebraska where she eventually attained her cosmetologist license at Althouse Beauty School.  Frances opened her own beauty shop named Fifi’s Beauty of Essence beside her husband’s business called Mr. L’s Delivery Service and Barber Shop.

Frances accepted Christ at an early age. In 1975, she was baptized and filled with the Holy Ghost under the leadership of Bishop Vernon Richardson of Omaha, Nebraska.

During her Christian journey, she was ordained an Evangelist Missionary and served as Hospitality President for the COGIC Nebraska First Jurisdiction.  In 1991- 94, Frances served as District Missionary in Leeward/Windward, Hawaii. At her local church, she sang in the Senior choir, helped direct the television/video ministries, served as the Bereavement Secretary, and was a member of the Young Women’s Christian Counsel, Pastor’s Aide Committee, Nurses Unit, and the Midnight Special train. 

Frances loved to travel. Other favorite things that she enjoyed doing were driving Bishop Richarson places, and playing her tambourine (Boy, did she play!).  She really had a BIG heart for others.

Frances leaves to cherish her loving memories, her Son: Maverick Carnail (Karnetta) Rushing, Omaha, NE. Special sons: Dr. Terry L (Gwen) Brewer, Omaha, NE, and Tracy Bush, Belleville, IL. Daughter: Barbara Crenshaw – Lucas, Omaha, NE. Special daughters: Joann Barnes, Omaha, NE, Ninette Bush, and Lynette Bush, Shiloh, IL.  Special niece/God-daughter: LaKesha McPhaull (affectionately known as “Her Girl”). Aunt: Ola White, Live Oaks, FL. Two brothers: Jerry Spearman, St. Paul, MN, and Robert (Kelly) Spearman, Burnsville, MN. Three sisters: Virgie Robinson, Belleville, IL, Joansdale Boyd, St Paul, MN, and Brenda “BJ” (Willie) Harris, Goodyear, AZ. Sister-in-law: Christine Spearman, East St Louis.  Special sisters:  Evangelists Elizabeth Marshall and Vernetta Deshazer, Omaha, NE. Grandchildren: Dr Melakiya “Mel” Johnson, Atlanta, GA, Asha Mobley, Chicago, IL, Terrence D Tryon, Omaha, NE, and LaRhonda Lucas-Ekunyemi, Omaha, NE. Great Grandchildren: Lauren Johnson, London Johnson, Bradley Johnson, and LaMare’ LaShay Wright.  A host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.

 

Visitation / Wake Service: Thursday (8/17/2023) 5:00 – 7:00 PM at Roeder Mortuary – Ames Chapel.  Funeral Service: Friday 11:00 AM (8/18/2023) at Faith Temple Church of God in Christ, 2108 Emmett Street, Omaha, NE 68111.  Interment at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Omaha, NE.
