Anna Mae Eleanor Lofdahl Carlson passed away at Josie Harper Hospice House in Omaha on Friday, April 10, 2026 due to cancer. She was born in Oakland, NE in a family home that had been repurposed into a small hospital. She attended school through the eighth grade at Nolana and graduated from Craig High School. Following graduation, Anna moved to Omaha and attended Van Sant Business School. She worked for Northwestern Bell/US West for the majority of her professional work life.
Anna led an active life whether it was participating in 4-H and winning blue ribbons for her seamstress skills, volunteering with her children's school functions or church activities. During her retirement years, her calendar had something scheduled for most days of the week. In her volunteer roles Anna usually served in leadership positions that continued to utilize her administrative skills.
Anna loved music and was an excellent piano player and spent quite a bit of time working on genealogy. She was most proud of her 30 plus years studying Swedish language and culture. She was never shy about announcing she was 100% Swedish. Anna met her husband, Emory L. Carlson, in high school and they married on June 18, 1950.
She is preceded in death by her husband, her parents, Fred E. and Mabel Christenson Lofdahl and three brothers-Henry, John and James. She is survived by her children, Mary Lou (Kenneth) Brown, Lyle (Jeanne) Carlson, and Don Carlson, grandson, Colin (Patty Pyra) Carlson, sister, Edith Bokelman and many nieces and nephews.
