Alberta Marie Wells

"Her smile was the greatest gift of all."

On the morning of July 24, 2016, Alberta Marie Wells, 59, transitioned from earth to her heavenly home. She was comforted by the presence of her immediate family members at the time of her passing. Alberta entered the world in Kansas City, Kansas on October 21, 1956. Alberta is preceded in death by her mother, Zera M. Taylor and brother, Eddie R. Taylor. She is survived by her loving and devoted husband, John Wells. They were joined as one on April 6, 1981.

Alberta accepted Christ and was baptized at an early age at First Baptist Church in Kansas City, Kansas and held fast to her belief that Jesus Christ was her Lord and Savior.

Alberta proudly graduated from Sumner High School in the “Class of 1974.” After high school, she earned her Bachelor of Science, majoring in Psychology from Creighton University in Omaha, Nebraska in 1978. She was the bright spot as manager of payroll for Union Pacific. She was very proud of her employment with the railroad of which she unselfishly worked for over 10 years.

She was and enthusiastic Scrabble player, loved to travel and was the consummate wife, mother and homemaker. Family gatherings, planned and impromptu, brought the brightest smile to her face. Alberta was truly loved and respected by family and friends.

Alberta is also survived by her daughter, Amber Lorthridge; son, McKay Wells; grandchildren, CamRon Wells, Jacori, Jamir Lorthridge, and Ayana Lorthridge all of Omaha, Nebraska. Alberta is survived by one brother, Michael Taylor of Kansas City, Kansas; and her family’s loyal pet, Bhair-Bhair. Alberta Marie was profoundly missed even before she crossed the threshold to Heaven. She will continue to be sorely missed by a host of devoted cousins, relatives, and friends.
